Long-distance passenger bus transport in Nepal faces unique operational complexity: managing physical booking counters across multiple highway hubs while simultaneously taking online seat reservations. Without real-time seat lock concurrency control, double-booking errors frequently destroy customer trust.
I designed and deployed the Bus Management System — a full-stack Django REST Framework and PostgreSQL application powering intercity transport operators. The engine handles seat matrix locking with Redis cache locks, prevents race conditions during seat selection, and outputs automated thermal printer ticket vouchers for counter staff.
The system includes route schedule managers, driver assignment modules, luggage fee tracking, and localized SMS booking confirmation, enabling bus operators to digitize counter operations and scale digital ticket sales across Nepal.
